This modification simply adds approximately 15.6 acres to the permitted area, of which, 11.6 is to be mined. The new mining area is simply an expansion into an area adjacent to the existing mine. The new area has been evaluated for jurisdictional wetlands, and the JD shows no wetlands. The US Army Corps of Engineers has approved the JD. Mining will begin in the new area after mining has been completed in the existing area. The existing mining area will fill with water, and then serve as a very large settling pond for discharge from the new mining area. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Sincerely, James Izzell Carolina Geological Services, Inc. enclosures PO Box 429, GARNER, NC 27529
