On November 11, 2023, Denise Bruce and Nick Mills with the Division of Energy, Mineral and Land Resources (DEMLR) Fayetteville Regional office inspected an apparent mining operation being undertaken near Elliot Bridge Road. Personnel of this office have also determined that you appear to be the operator of this mine. The area affected at the site by mining-related activities was estimated to be about 36 acres. Enclosed in this letter is an application for a mining permit and application for surety bond. Please note that you may be able to submit proof of an irrevocable line of credit in leu of the surety bond. We are requesting that an application for regulated mining activities be submitted by January 3, 2024. If we do not hear from you and/or the responsible party associated with the regulated mining activities by that date, we may pursue enforcement action(s).
