RE: Martin Marietta Kings Mountain Quarry—Mine Permit#23-02 Permit Language Modification
Dear Mr. Parr:
This letter is requesting the modification of the mining permit #60-02 for the Kings Mountain
Quarry located at 262 Holiday Inn Drive in Kings Mountain, NC. This proposed modification includes the
following modification:
The modification of the currently permitted language in section 12"Refuse Disposal'to allow the rock
dust generated from the on-site asphalt plant to be handled and disposed of in accordance with the
currently permitted disposal of the process tailings generated from our processing plant. Due to the
nature of the geological composition of the rock currently being mined at this location the asphalt plant
is creating an amount of rock dust which cannot be recycled and re-used within their asphalt process.
