Permit Modification
Mining Permit No.28-24
To Whom It May Concern:
CDM Smith,on behalf of Dare County,is providing one original and 5 copies of the permit
modification for the Dare County Construction/Demolition Landfill On-Site Borrow Pit This letter
details the modifications being made to mining permit No.28-24.The permit is being modified to
add an additional 7.9 acres to the southeast of the current permit boundary of which 5.0 acres will
be mined to provided additional material for use at the Dare County C&D landfill.
The proposed expansion area is currently comprised of cultivated agricultural fields. Mining will
continue to be performed in increments as necessary to supply base fill,daily cover,and cap
construction materials for the C&D Iandfill.The proposed modification will not invoke any of the
seven denial criteria as set forth in North Carolina G.S.74-51 as the expansion area will be operated
in a similar manner as the currently permitted area.The following documents are included:

■ Attachment C-Updated Mine Maps
■ Attachment D-Notification of Adjoining Landowners
■ Attachment E-Reclamation Bond(includes documentation showing that the balance in the
County's assigned bank account has been revised to match the bond cost listed in the permit
application of$104,400)
Also included is a check in the amount of$750 for the permit application processing fee.
