To: Person or persons reviewing the following application, pursuant to the attached letter I received. I see no case number or other identifying records number. My name is Roger Pooch and I own the property directly across the highway from this activity. I would like to lodge a grievance with the permit being issued. To date, Martin Marrietta has been blasting close to my building site. I run a machine shop along with a hydraulic distribution facility. When they blast, it has shut off my automated milling machines on occasion, the blasts are that violent. I don't hang any form of art work on the walls, because it will crash down. With the new permit they will be even blasting closer to my building site, and I am afraid that it will get to the point where the ground will shake so violently that it will make my machines unlevel. When I put up this building in 2016-2017, 1 was assured by the people laying the concrete that 4" of concrete would not crack. It did not, until they started blasting. I have spoken with Martin Marrietta's plant manager and he said that they would inform us when they were getting ready to blast. They did it maybe a % dozen times, and then they no longer informed us. (We shut off the machines to keep them from crashing) Besides the concrete cracking, my well went dry because they disturbed the ground water vein that I was pulling from. The last thing I am going to mention is that I am working with a gentleman from Canada, and we recently purchased several hydraulic cylinder welding machines and we were going to build another facility here at 6900 Holly Shelter Road and start manufacturing hydraulic cylinders. Until 1 know that either the request for an extension on the permit is denied or some type of set back for the rock mining, I cannot go forward with the proposed plan. Please take this into consideration, when making a decision. (Note: It is also a financial impediment for me, because in the state of North Carolina, the mining company is not held at fault.) One of only a handful of states that allows this.
