AM
Dear Mr. Parr,
On behalf of 401 Sand Company LLC I am responding to your letter of October 30, 2020,
in which you requested additional information for your review of the above-referenced
mining permit modification request. I appreciate the additional information and
conversations we have had to clarify your need for additional information on the entire
site, not just the new addition. We trust that the information contained in this response
will provide the additional information that you need for your review. I assure you that
every effort has been made to provide as much detailed information as possible, specific
to your request. I will respond to your questions or requests in the same order for clarity;
1. Please provide post mining contours for the entire site, including mined areas. Post
mining contours for the existing mining area are not shown.
Response: The contours for the fully graded post-mined site are shown on Sheet C5
as included in this revised set of drawing. The contours for the existing
mining area are shown on Sheet C6.
2. Please show and label the associated erosion control measures(vegetated diversion
berm and silt fence) for the stream crossing.
Response: The detail of the stream crossing (as previously approved and built) is
shown on Detail Sheet D2.
3. Please show the locations of the baffles, dewatering devices, and outlets for all the
Sediment Basins, including the existing Sediment Basins in the existing permit
area.

Response: All requested details have been added to the site plans, including details
for sediment basins in the existing permit area. The detail sheet, Sheet D4
shows all the new basins in detail including the location of coir baffles, the
emergency spillway, riser and skimmer dewatering device. Details for the
existing basins are listed on Sheet C1.
4. Please show how runoff will be conveyed to all Basins, by detailing ditch, etc. on map.
Detail is missing from existing basins.
Response: The revised plans show flow directions for overland flow and diversion
swales to convey runoff to the sediment basins, including existing basins.
5. Provide maintenance requirements for the visual barrier berm and for the temporary
slope drain berms.
Response: Maintenance requirements for all erosion and sediment control structures
are detailed on Detail Sheet D2..
6. Please remove Weeping Love Grass from the permanent groundcover specifications,
which appears on sheet D2..
Response: Weeping Love Grass has been removed from the permanent groundcover
spec cations shown on Sheet D2.
7. Please provide an explanation as to how the new mining site will be accessed, as
there are no roads shown on the Mine Map leading to the new mining site. During a
recent field inspection, it appeared that there was an access road to the new mining
site, which should be shown on the Mine Map.
Response: The new Mining Area is contiguous to the existing Mining Area. Mining
will simply proceed as a natural expansion of this existing pit. However,
for clarity, a new temporary haul road has been shown. As site
development continues, this will be incorporated into the mining area.
