I will respond to your questions or requests in the same order for clarity; 1. Please provide proof that our(sic)company has obtained any permits or provided any notifications to the Division of Waste Management for said landfilling activities. Please note that a separate Sediment and Erosion Plan approval and Industrial Stormwater Permit is required for the LCID since it is located in an already mined area. The area must be removed from the mining permit boundary. Response: The NC Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section, has approved and issued all required permits for the LCID. A copy of the permit is attached.. Please note that the area for LCID is within the current and future Mining Area. After the area is mined, the LCID is proposed as the Reclamation of this area. The area will be requested for release upon conclusion of mining and prior to planned reclamation. 2. Please provide post mining contours for the entire site, including mined areas. Response: The contours for the fully graded post-mined site are shown on Sheet C5 as included in this revised set of drawing. 3. Please modify the label "2 Acre LCID Landfill"to "Inactive 2 Acre LCID Landfill." Response. The label "2 Acre LCID Landfi r has been changed to "Inactive 2 Acre LCID Landfill." PO Box 429, GARNER, NC 27529 Page 2 401 Sand Co, ADI response 4. Please show and label all stream location with the 75 foot undisturbed stream buffers that is (sic) located near Basins 1 and 3. This includes showing the existing stream crossing location and the associated erosion control measures (vegetated diversion berm and silt fence) which is (sic) located near Sediment Basin 1. Response: The 75-foot stream buffer has been shown on the revised plans. 5. Please address the location of Sediment Basin 1, which appears to be located in the wetland associated with the previously mentioned stream. Response: Sediment Basin 9 was relocated as shown on the revised site plans. 6. Please show the locations of the baffles, dewatering devices, and outlets for all the Sediment Basins, including the existing Sediment Basins. Response: The detail sheet, Sheet D4 that shows all of the basins in detail shows the location of coir baffles, the emergency spillway, riser and skimmer dewatering device. 7. Please show how runoff will be conveyed to the Basins, by detailing ditch, etc.on map. Response: The revised plans show flow directions for overland flow and diversion swales to convey runoff to the sediment basins. 8. Include a (sic) construction drawing, specification, and maintenance requirements for the perimeter berm. Provide maintenance requirements for the surface dewatering device (skimmer). Response: The specification for the perimeter berm is shown on Sheet D2 of the revised set of drawings. 9. Please remove Weeping Love Grass from the permanent groundcover specifications. Response: Weeping Love Grass has been removed from the permanent groundcover specifications shown on Sheet D3. 10.Please provide an explanation as to how the new mining site will be accessed, as there are no roads shown on the Mine Map leading to the new mining site. Response: The new Mining Area is contiguous to the existing Mining Area. Mining will simply proceed as a natural expansion of this existing pit. No new roads are necessary. Page 3 401 Sand Co, ADI response 11.A field inspection has revealed that the silt fence on Basin 1 has been undermined and sediment was observed on the downslope of the riprap apron. Please provide proof that your company has brought these measures into compliance. Response. This has been remedied by the Owner.
