Unfortunately this is the first time I am seeing this request.
A"Pumping Operation and Monitoring Plan"was provided on the cover sheet of the plans submitted.
DWR`s comment appears to be requesting that this O&M plan be incorporated in the mining permit,
which seems to be an interagency item to me. If I am misunderstanding this,and the comment is
actually requesting an O&M plan from us,I respectfully ask that the O&M plan notes provided on the
cover sheet be referenced. If more or revised information is still needed,please advise.
The Mining section has approved this application subject to receiving a copy of this NCG02 permit and
a railroad crossing approval that we have now received.
Thank you for your assistance with this and please let me know if anything is needed from us to finalize
this approval.

Has the additional information required by DWR been resubmitted and approved by Robert
Tankard? Notice of the requirements are attached.
DWR states the approved O&M Plan is to be in cooperated with the mining permit.
As soon as I receive the notice of DWR's approval, I will promptly request for continued permit
processing by the DEMLR Central Office.

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy.We have submitted an application to Raleigh for a new
sand mine in Currituck and are working to finalize the NCG02 application to cover related dewatering
activities. In accordance with the application checklist,I am reaching out to you to provide the
following attached documents that we plan to submit:
1. NCG02 NOI—General Permit Application
2. Cover Letter to submission of Mine Permit Application
3. NCDOT County Roadway Map w/proposed mine location
4. USGS Map w/ proposed mine location
5. Mine Development Plans including cover sheet,existing site conditions sheet and detailed mine
plans and construction detail sheets.
6. Wetland Plat prepared pursuant to site visit performed by environmental consultant and
USACOE
7. Dewatering and Monitoring Schematic
8. Dewatering Settling Basin&Outlet Control Structure Calcs
With regards to a Pumping Operation and Monitoring Plan,please refer to the related notes provided
near the bottom of the second column of the notes found on the Cover Sheet of the Mine Development
Plans.Additionally, details and sizing of the dewatering basin and outlet control structure can be found
on Sheet 5 of the Mine Development Plan and in the attached calculations.A schematic of dewatering
and monitoring is attached and details of recharge ditching and monitoring wells are provided on Sheet

5 of the plans.
The checklist includes cone of influence calculations that we currently do not have.We have found at
existing mine operations,the use of perimeter recharge ditches,like proposed,greatly reduce the
influence of dewatering activities to surrounding to groundwater levels.As noted in the POMP notes, a
transect of monitoring wells is also being proposed between the mine and nearby wetlands to help
monitor groundwater conditions and potential impacts. This being said,if influence calculations are still
necessary,please let me know and we will consult with a soils scientist.
