Thank you for the response.APVA is closing on the property any day now (supposedly today) and will own both sides of the
track.As soon as the closing occurs I will have the owner sign the forms and email them to you. Is there a way that the owner
can pay electronically? If so,I will find out how they would like to send payment and let you know.

My apologies. I must have overlooked your previous email. It appears that the applications and plans are in
order to submit for processing.
There is only one other question that I can think of at this time. If APVA, Inc. is not the land owner of the
property that this crossing will connect (both sides of the track) we will need to have something in writing from
the land owner(s) authorizing APVA, Inc. the use of the land to access the crossing requested to be installed.
I can accept the forms and plans electronically but will need to know if you will be mailing in the check(s). I
work every other week in the office so in the event an overnight package will be submitted, please give me a
heads up so I can have someone look out for it on my out-of-the-office week.

I hope you are doing well and enjoyed the holidays!
I am following up to the previous correspondence below with the attached unsigned completed copies of the Grade Crossing
Application,Right of Entry Application and related project design drawings.
Included on Sheet 3 of the drawings are a detailed plan inset,construction notes and details regarding the proposed
modification of an existing gravel farm road crossing to an asphalt roadway crossing.
Since we submit these applications so infrequently,I was hoping you would be able to provide a cursory review these
documents and let me know if any additional general information will be needed and/or if there is an immediate concern with
the proposal. Our client is likely going to request an express review and it would be great to correct anything you may see
now,rather than after the application is made.
Also,just so I can confirm to our client,the application fees appear to be following:
• Crossing and Entry Applications: $4,500
• Expedited Processing: $2,500
Total = $7,000

Mark,
Attached is the grade crossing application for your convenience. As stated, it would be best to have the plans
provided along with the application so engineering can review and address any issues if needed prior to the
time needed for the crossing to be ready to go. Just to reiterate the railroad does have a list of contractors that
are approved for installations of crossings. Using one of the approved contractors will reduce the need for your
own contractor going through the process of being approved.

I mis-spoke regarding the grading specs being on the website. I have attached examples of plans to help with
your plan preparation. Depending on the volume and size of the trucks that will be using the crossing, the
engineering department can specify if an aggregate, asphalt, or concrete crossing will be required.
Road crossing application can be forwarded to me at the address below my name. The check can be made out
to Maryland Midland Railway for the application and engineering fees.

I am attaching an aerial that shows the property we are working with that I mentioned in the voice message this
morning. The aerial notes the two existing farm crossings. Our plan would involve utilizing the northern crossing and
abandoning the southern crossing on this property.
I understand there will be a formal review process, but if you would please call me, I would like to discuss the general
plan before we start the application process.
