To whom it may concern:
TdCounty Rock received a request for information from your office with four comments that need to be addressed. Please find
below the answers to your request for information by the number in your correspondence.
1. Please see attached mine plans showing current mine and proposed modification.
2. During the permitting of the current mine site flood zone and watershed permits were obtained to meet the
requirements of Yancey County. Because the modification adds acreage another water shed and flood zone
permit was applied for and was approved. Both sets are attached for your review.

8. The mined ore is screened twice:once with wet suppression and the second time by washing(recent
addition). The water from the wash plant goes into the excavated pit and is recycled back for use in the
plant. Attached is corrected C.3 page
9. The mining produces stone by excavation the stone from below the ground surface similar to building a pond.
The water level stays the same(2 to 3 feet below ground level)in the pond and does not overflow. See
attached Mine Map for location of structures within 300 feet of the permitted area.
10. Please see attached mine map showing structures within 300 feet of permit boundary.
11. Please see attached information for Certified letter,tracking number 70200090000095574222 which was
Picked up at the Burnsville Post office on October 11,2022.
12. There is no discharge from the site because the discharge from all sediment basins drains back into the
excavated area(and if needed is recycled for plant use). The water level stays the same(2 to 3 feet below
ground level)in the excavated area and does not overflow.

C.PROTECTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES
1. Describe in detail the sequence of events for the development and operation of the mine and reference the sequence
to the mine map(s).Attach additional sheets as needed.
Once Buffers are marked, mine development will begin with the installation of the soil and
erosion controls as shown on the soil and erosion control map. Once roads have been provided
with ditches,skimmer basins will be excavated to provide a discharge point for the ditches. The
mining will involve the excavation of the rock from the excavation area and loading into trucks,
for separation, utilizing an onsite screening plant. The screening plant is mobile and will be
taken to other locations during certain times of the year. Mining will be performed on a
campaign basis and screened materials will be trucked to a sales yard.
2. Describe specific erosion control measures to be installed prior to land disturbing activities and during mining to
prevent offsite sedimentation(include specific plans for sediment and erosion control for mine excavation(s),waste
piles,access/mine roads,and process areas),and give a detailed sequence of installation and schedule for
maintenance of the measures.Locate and label all sediment and erosion control measures on the mine map(s)and
provide typical cross-sections/construction details of each measure.Engineering designs and calculations are required
to justify the adequacy of any proposed measures.
See attached soil and erosion control details and the attached maps for their
locations.
3. A)Will the operation involve wash in the material mined,recycling process water,or other wastewater handling?
