Response to Candor Mine Revision
Mining Permit No. 62-04
Montgomery County
Yadkin - PeeDee River Basin

Addressing each review comment:
1. Small map included with property lines.
RECEIVED
JAN037013
LAND QUALITY
MINING PROGRAM
2. Copies of tracking info from USPS on neighbor's notification receipts
included.
3. Limits of excavation shown as yellow area on big map. Excavation is
simply moving south and east as shown. Ultimate limits I assume is all
excavated areas. More than likely, depending on quality of clay stratum,
the mine will at some point be extended south and east into undisturbed
land, although that determination cannot be made at this time.
4. UNEXCATED is misspelled "unexcavated" and it was simply removed
and left as WOODS or WOODED
5. Berms and representative symbol added to map. Berm is higher/wider
on south end and increases in height and width going north. Two simple
cross sections shown on map for protective berm design.

6. The new area added to the map is shallow cover and will simply be
sloped away from undisturbed buffer with a gentle 1:3 slope as shown on
map.
7. Reclamation map included. Entire area will be gentle sloping
"grassland/pastureland" with no ponding or ponds left at final
reclamation. Sediment control basin at south end of mine area will be
removed and no ponds or basins left as well.
8. Northern and northeastern boundaries have no need for additional
Erosion and Sediment Control (E & SC) because these areas gravity flow
back into the bowl of the mine, and utilize the control systems in place
for that area. No fugitive water is leaving this area, and no management
other than sloping and contouring should be needed.
9. The new mining area/affected area should not require any new
erosion control measures, so contruction and maintenance details should
not be needed.
10. Our mine permit does not come within 50" of Suck Branch on the
northern side of the permit area and an undisturbed buffer should not be
needed.
Included with this letter are:
Updated/revised full mine map
Copies of neighbor notifications
Neighbor map to new mine area
Reclamation map
