Permit Modification
Dear Mr. Parr;
Vulcan Construction Materials is requesting a permit modification to expand an overburden
storage area on the site, which will impact an area of approximately 18 acres on the north side of
the site.
The following items are enclosed for your review:
• A check for the permit modification fee ($750.00)
• One original and 5 copies of the mine permit modification application form
• 6 copies of the mine permit modifications drawings which include the mine map, the
reclamation map, construction drawings for the proposed material storage area expansion,
and construction details.
• 2 copies of the design calculations for the channels and the expansion of the storage area
for the existing rock dam.
The plans include the following modifications to the previously approved mine map:
• Expansion of a material storage area located on the north side of the pit and the west side
of the currently approved material storage area. The modification includes an expansion
of the storage area for the rock dam and a permanent diversion channel.
• The existing site topography mapping has been updated to reflect a recent aerial survey of
the site.
• The names of the adjacent landowners have been updated to reflect the Burke County
GIS records.
• The FEMA Flood Fringe lines have been updated to match the current effective locations.
• The mine permit acreage table has been revised to reflect the updated aerial map, the
proposed construction of the material storage area, and the addition of property to the
mine permit.
• The Reclamation map was updated to include the new material storage area.
• Construction details for the expanded stora8ge area of �ock 41-9 and the permanent
