The applicant certifies by signing this permit that I) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian Iandowner(s) . The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available information and belief, certify that this project is consistentwith the North Carolina Coastal Management Program. Voss 232 Oakleaf Dr. Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512 June 8, 2020 Mr. Brad Connell \ Field Representative Division of Coastal Management 400 Commerce Ave. Morehead City, NC 28557 Hi Brad: As per our conversation today, we will be having repairs made to our existing dock, which was damaged during hurricanes Florence and Dorian. While we will have a contractor on site, we would like to add a small (approx.. 8' x 12') lower elevation dock area and steps to access the water, which improve our access to Bogue Sound. This addition would be attached to the south side of the distal portion of the existing dock and require only one new piling on the southwest corner of the addition. The steps, extending from the southeast corner of the dock addition, should enable the owner, Dr. Peterson, to safely access the water. Dr. "Pete" Peterson has Lewy Body dementia and has no other way to access Bogue Sound from his property. Enclosed is a check for $200.00, made to the order of the NC Department of Environmental Quality, to cover the cost for a general permit. You should also find Adjacent Riparian Property Owner Statements from each of our neighbors: David and Pat Oliver at 2300akleaf Dr. and John B. Thompson at 236 Oakleaf Dr. We own the property at 234 Oakleaf Dr. The property at 232 Oakleaf, which has the dock, is 0.732 Ac and property title is recorded in Carteret Co Deed Book 0389 on pg 00070.
