Dear Mr. & Mrs. Lee,
This correspondence is in reference to your 11 May 1992 letter objecting to
the proposed boathouse construction onsite of Mr. & Mrs. Harry Riddles property off
of Hwy 92, on the north side of the Pamlico River (Gaylords Bay), in Beaufort
County, North Carolina.
I have reviewed your objection to the proposed 12' x 20' boathouse and
discussed the project with Mr. David Gossett, Field Representative for the
Department of Coastal Management, and conclude that if you look to your left from
your property the proposed boathouse will be in view but that it will not block your
view of the river or in any way be within or near your riparian area of the river.
Therefore, I recommended a permit be issued for the construction (see attached).
If you wish to challenge my granting of the permit you may file a third party
hearing request with the Chairman of the Coastal Resources Commission as provided
in GS 113A-121.1 (b) within 20 days of the permit decision. I do share your
concerns but I consider Mr. & Mrs. Riddle's request to be reasonable, within their
riparian area, and consistent with the guidelines for development in subchapter 7H.
of the North Carolina Administrative Code.
Thank you for your time and concerns in this matter. If you would like copies
of the third party hearing request forms or would like to further discuss this or
related matters, please contact me in the Washington Regional Office.
Sincerely,
Terry E. Moore
