Mr. Gerald A. Brooks OCT 2 4 2001
786 Brooks Road
Bath, North Carolina
Dear Mr. Brooks,
This letter is in reference to our 19 October 2001 telephone conversation regarding
the construction of a boathouse on your property at 786 Brooks Road in Bath on Back Creek
in Beaufort County, North Carolina. On 16 October 20011 issued you General Permit No.
29208-B for the construction of a 12' by 24' uncovered boatlift adjacent your existing pier.
By rule, the construction of a boathouse requires that you have a minimum of 75 linear feet
of shoreline (North Carolina Administrative Code 07H.0208(b)(6)(G)). You have indicated
that you own ±50 linear feet of shoreline on Back Creek. Therefore, you are not eligible for
a boathouse with only ±50' of shoreline.
You may request a variance from the rule through the Coastal Resources Commission.
I am inclosing the forms for a variance. If I can be of additional assistance in this or related
matters, please call me at 252-946-6481 ext. 273.
Sincerely,
D _o-
