RE: Riprap Placement at North River and Wards Creek Bridges
Dear Mr. Edgerton:
Please find enclosed CAMA General Permit # C-016453 which
authorizes the placement of riprap material below the mean high
water line on both sides of the North River Bridge (Bridge #33).
In order to vaildate this permit, please sign at the appropriate
location. You should keep the top copy (white colored) and return
the remaining copies to me at my Morehead City office.
During our meeting on August 13, 1996, we also discussed additional
riprap protection which the Department of Transportation plans to
undertake along the bridge abutments and right of way of Wards
Creek as well as the causeway of US Highway 70 just east of the
North River Bridge. A CAMA Permit will not be required for this
protection since it is considered to be maintenace activities
within the existing highway right of way. The proposed work will
also not impact any wetlands or areas below the mean high water
line. I have attached a copy of the drawing which you gave me at
our August 13 meeting showing the work which will be undertaken at
Wards Creek. I also indicated that the riprap alignment for the
causeway at North River will be staked by Scott McLendon, US Army
Corps of Engineers, and myself on September 5, 1996. You are
certainly invited to attend this meeting if possible.
Thank you for your interest in this matter and if you have any
