This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site
drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine,
imprisonment or civil action; and may cause the permit to be-
come null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the
permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance.
The applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) this pro-
ject is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement has been obtained from
adjacent riparian landowners certifying that they have no
objections to the proposed work.

Dear Tere Barrett:
Thank you for joining Gehrig Spencer, Jim Pellam and myself at Ft Fisher last week We have received consent to film in
the area from all parties involved, Misener Construction, The Ft Fisher State Historic Site, and The Corps of Engineers, and
naturally the adjoining property owners, The Riggirts and Carolina. Beach State Park.
Below, you will find a breakdown of the scenes we would like to film, as we briefly discussed.
There are eight scenes that our company would like to film in the area. They all take place around the Ft. Fisher
Historic Site. They are as follows:

A) Ext. Shoreline
Character (Madeline) on the sand walking the beach and sees a woman (Rachel) watching her from
the trees. Camera will be placed on the sand or rocks behind Mary on camera stand. Request permission to also use
a Dolly track on the sand if necessary. Camera will shoot Mary on the beach, while we see Rachel in the background
standing ih the trees. l
B) Ext. Reverse of House (No actual house) GYi
1) Establishing shot of the area. Camera to be placed at the North end of the area on rocks on came
sticks -Will shoot establishing shot hF area across the water toward the two historical foundations
(which we will call "pilings").
2) Reverse of the "House". View toward Ocean. Would like to place a car in front of n;t;na . Car
stays stationary. Two actors take luggage o of car. Camera behind pilings looking toward water.

C) Ext. House -Reverse
Two actors get out of a car and talk. In front of pilings. Similar position as B). Would like to use
Dolly track

D) Ext. House - Reverse
Actor sits in chair in front of "house", gets up and walks toward house. Camera in similar position
as B) and C). Would like to use Dolly Track.
E) Int. Jo's Bedroom

One actor looking through `window' which will be placed on scaffolding. Camera will also be on top of
scaffolding. No digging to put in scaffolding.
F) Int. Madeline's Bedroom
Same as shot E) except at night with another actress. Scaffolding, Camera, and 'window'.
G) Ext. Woods
Four Actors. Three searching for the other in the "woods", which will be the trees between the road and
the water. One actor is approaching the water, and starts to walk into it. Night time shot. Lights will be
placed in the surrounding area. Truck with light will be parked on pavement on side of Dunes. Camera
will be steadycam (person who wears camera) and also possibly Dolly track.,
H) Ext. Sea
Four Actors. Two observing on beach. One in water. One chasing other trying to rescue her. Will have
stunt doubles, water safety standing by, as well as a Zodiac boat. Will have underwater camera, as well
as Dolly track on beach. Small lights placed nearby for safety and for lighting. Truck wi still be parked
in the paved area illuminating shot.
We will be at this location for half of a day and half of the night. We will take every precaution necessary to
preserve the sea oats and the other delicate life and historical features in the area. Most of our crew is local and
realizes the importance of preserving our environment. We will however still issue a memo to the crew. Please
advise me on any other concerns you should have.
If feasible, our company would also like to place t1yo portable hot tubs near the area where the actors enter he water during the
night scene to keep them from catching hypothermia. Please advise if this is possible, and where the closest place might be to
accomplish this. If not on the beach area itself - perhaps in the area where the truck with the light will be? Please see diagram.
