calcium carbonate materials, such as oyster shell and limestone marl, cemented together and
arranged in the shallow waters of the intertidal zone in a configuration that attenuates wave energy,

Gail would like to go with the yellow footprint, attached. The total length is approximately 196 ft. The
southernmost sill is 44 ft, the middle sill is 100 ft, and the northernmost sill is 52 ft.As drawn, the sill
maintains a minimum distance of 1 foot from SAV. The 1 foot buffer from SAV is shown in red.

Thank you for getting those updates and passing them along! I would be amenable to either of the updated
options. Since I'm not a hydrologist, I can't say for certain which updated alignment would be the most
beneficial. But I do think that the yellow alignment may be the most helpful for water and species movements
by having the offset gap a little further offshore compared to the orange alignment.
Thank you again for getting those updates passed along, and for getting the updated survey info! And please
keep me in the loop on this one - I'm curious to see which design is picked. I'm also interested in following up at
this site and seeing how the SAV is doing near the sills post-construction, especially next year. One of the
biggest topics we've been discussing is the impact of sills on SAV, so this could be another great example to
include in that assessment.

I've attached images below to show the findings of our SAV mapping. The semi-transparent green
polygon represents areas of relatively continuous SAV coverage.The hatched green polygons represent
patchy SAV coverage.There may have been some isolated Zostera, but Halodule was the dominant
species. I created a 1-foot buffer around the SAV polygons. The buffer is shown in red.The green line
marks the edge of existing marsh.
I have yet to show the updated footprint options to the landowner. Please let me know if they would be
acceptable and I will forward her the information and let her choose which option she prefers.

Good morning Kara,
Thank you for getting the additional pictures and video! Would any portion of the sill (as proposed) be placed
directly over SAV?One solution we've found to be helpful when SAV is in the area is to have gaps in the sills
in areas where SAV is potentially problematic. Since this sill would be more than 100' in length, we'd want
there to be gaps so that water can flow in and out and so that fish can access the area behind the sill. If one of
those gaps could be utilized to avoid placement over SAV (and maybe have an overlapping "baffle" landward of
the gap and SAV), that could also help to minimize potential impacts. In the areas where SAV was closer to the
shore, would it be possible to have the sill as close to the wetlands/shoreline as possible (to have as much gap as
possible between SAV and the sill, even if it's less than 10 feet)? While the gap between SAV and the sill is
important to minimize potential impacts, it's more important (in my opinion)that the sill not be placed over
SAV. The SAV could potentially be impacted by wave energy reflection, but placement of the sill directly over
SAV would result in a direct impact (as opposed to a potential impact).
If any of these measures can be utilized, that would be ideal. I certainly don't want to discourage the applicant
from installing a living shoreline rather than a bulkhead as a result of avoidance and minimization measures.
But, as you know, I also have to ensure that impacts to existing resources are avoided and/or minimized as
much as possible.

Hey Jimmy,
Here are some pictures of today at 111 Brown St.The picture with Morgan standing shows the 10 feet
from the SAV(marked with green flags). I am going to send a video in the next email that I hope helps.
There appears that the first 100' of living shoreline would stay 10' from SAV, but after that there are spots
where it appears it is growing in and around the tires and closer to the shoreline. Morgan is still interested
in meeting you out there as I do think that will be the most beneficial as there are so much SAV and
different locations. If you want to call and discuss this more,just let me know.
