Dear Ms. Henson,
This is with reference to the request received by Bryan Hall, Field Representative, to refine State Permit No.
148-23, which was issued to 8055 Masonboro, LLC. on December 15, 2023, that includes a seven (7) slip
docking facility at 8055 Masonboro Sound, adjacent to the Masonboro Sound, in Wilmington, New Hanover
County. State Permit was refined on January 10, 2023, for a change in angle of the docking facility. State
Permit No. 148-23 is due to expire on December 31, 2028.
The action proposed in your request consists of changing the authorized 12.5' long by 12.5' wide northern
boat lift to a 16' long by 16' wide boat lift within the footprint of the authorized docking facility. The request
also includes a modification and reduction of the authorized 542' long retaining wall to 325' total linear feet
resulting in a reduction of approximately 0.07 acres of fill on the upland portion of the property. Attached with
this request are Sheets 1 and 2 of 2 showing the proposed changes (dated as received by DCM 7/3/24).
Upon reviewing the information provided, the Division of Coastal Management has determined that the
proposed action is consistent with existing State rules and regulations and is in keeping with the original
purpose and intent of the permit. This Letter of Refinement authorizes the modification of State Permit No.
148-23 as described in your request dated received on July 3, 2024. Please note this refinement does not
alleviate the need to obtain any other local, state or federal permits.

Good afternoon Bryan,
On behalf of 8055 Masonboro, LLC, I would like to request a letter of refinement for changes to the
project located at 8055 Masonboro Sound Rd (CAMA Permit # 148-23). The changes include an
adjustment and reduction of the permitted retaining wall from 542 ft to 325 ft and the backfill area from
10.71 ~af'to 0.64A Within the permitted docking facility footprint, a 12x12 ft boat lift is now proposed at
2K 16x16 ft. See the attached figures for reference. Please let me know if you need a hard copy of this
request or any additional information.
