Detailed Observations:
1. Marine mattresses were observed being placed today between Sta. 10+00 and Sta. 10+20.
2. Armor stones (Size A) were observed being delivered to the project site via flatbed tractor trailer from the
Rockingham Vulcan quarry. All stones appeared to be within the size range for the Size A stone (See Photo #2).
3. Construction signs were observed in place and fencing was observed around the 4th Street and Shallotte Blvd
staging and laydown areas.
4. Stone fragments were observed in a pile adjacent to the stockpile of acceptable armor stones (See Photo #3).
5. One armor stone was observed outside of the footprint of the terminal groin on the east side of the structure at
—Sta. 5+50. (See Photo #4).
6. A fragment of an armor stone was observed outside of the footprint of the terminal groin on the west side of the
structure a —6+00. (See Photo #5).
7. Depressions in the sand adjacent to the west side of the structure at —Sta. 4+00 were observed. These depressions
were caused by excavating material to form a ramp to the structure for the offroad trucks. (See Photo #6).
Items Discussed with Contractor's Superintendent, Surveyor, Regulatory Agencies, ... etc.:
1. Richard Mattingly (CDC) anticipated that 20 marine mattresses would be placed today. He also stated that the
crew would depart the project site today and return on Monday with the exception of one crew member who
will stay to receive armor stone.
