CDC indicated that no work will be done on the terminal groin this week but that stone delivery to the site would continue until the quarry shuts down for the holidays on Dec. 23rd. CDC indicated that flatbed trucks would continue to deliver Size B armor stone until the Dec. 23rd when the quarry closes down. CDC indicated that construction on the terminal groin would resume on Monday Dec. 27t" 2. A CDC operator was observed on site to unload armor stone being delivered. No armor stone was observed being delivered during the site visit. 3. The On -site Observer noted two (2) rubber mats at the seaward end of the east side of the structure had been moved off of the structure by wave action and only a corner of each of the mattresses were still touching the structure. It appeared as though the waves had moved the stones that were holding them in place (See Photos #7 and #8). 4. Construction signs were observed in place and fencing was observed around the 4th Street and Shallotte Blvd staging and laydown areas. 5. No work was observed at the Shallotte Blvd staging area. Signs and barricades were observed in place. Items Discussed with Contractor's Superintendent, Surveyor, Regulatory Alzencies, ... etc.: A Bi-weekly meeting was held at the 01B Town Hall to discuss the status of the terminal groin construction. The meeting was attended by Debbie Smith (016), Justin Whiteside (016), Jim Gunn (CDC) via phone, Adam Priest (CPE), and Brad Rosov (CPE) via phone. Discussions during the meeting informed the Town that Size A armor stone would begin being delivered next week, starting Jan. 27t" and that CDC is expected that Phase 1 of the construction should be close to finishing by mid -February. The meeting also discussed that the sheet pile wall installation may begin by mid -February. Jim Gun mentioned that the sheet pile sections are in the process of being coated which is expected to take several weeks. Justin Whiteside asked if there had been any updates from the vibration monitoring equipment. Adam Priest stated that he had not heard any updates regarding any vibration results. Marine Mattress construction would be ending mid -December but the Shallotte Blvd staging Cnn P■ru,n E■u■uun COASTAL PROTECTION ENGINEERING OF NORTH CAROLINA, INC. The meeting also discussed the USACE Federal project timing which is anticipated to start near the end of February; however, no date has been confirmed. 2. Adam Priest (CPE) emailed Richard Mattingly (CDC), Richard Gunn (CDC), and Jim Gunn (CDC) a description and photos of the marine mattresses that were observed to have slid off of the east side of the structure. In a phone call with Jim Gunn, he indicated that the crew would attempt to get a chain on the marine mattresses to secure them and that on Monday (12/27) the rubber mats would be retrieved and placed back on the structure.
