The attached map shows the approximate wetland line in the area reviewed in front of the residence, stakes were
placed along the line. the northern boundary ends in an upland estuarine beach and the southern end review area
stopped where the peninsula crossed the mouth of the gut based on time limitations on site(it was getting dark) and the
assumption this would likely be outside of the project area. If you need further assistance please let me know

I'm the homeowner of 23165 Wimble Shoals Drive in Rodanthe, parcel #012461002. I'm working with a contractor to
build a bulkhead on our property. We were informed by Yvonne Carver from CAMA that it would need a site visit to
stake the 404-wetland line before a decision can be made on the permit. I submitted a jurisdiction determination
request form on January 30th and have not yet heard back on when there will be a site visit. Can you let me know if
this will be reviewed soon or if you need any more information from me? I am concerned that the water has eroded
much of the land and is very close to the house at this point.

Good afternoon,
I recently conducted a site visit to the property of 23165 Wimble Shoals Drive, Rodanthe, in
response to a request for a new bulkhead permit. Based on my observations during a site visit
last Friday, it is possible that the bulkhead alignment may have to be further landward than
potentially proposed. Our rules under 07H.1100 (copy attached) require that "along
shorelines with wetland vegetation, bulkhead and riprap revetments shall be positioned so
that all construction is to be accomplished landward of such vegetation".
Due to these factors, I consulted with the US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) Representative
Shane Staples. Shane will need a Jurisdictional Request Form (copy attached) completed and
submitted to the USACE office in order for him to conduct a site visit to stake their 404-
wetland line. This must be done before an alignment for a shoreline erosion structure can be
staked and a permit decision made.

Just looking at that there is vegetation, there are some hydrology indicators in the picture, I would have to look at the
soils for an actual determination. Just looking at the location and knowing the fetch I would think a rip -rap revetment
has a higher chance of success. If a bulkhead/retaining wall were placed behind the wetlands they will likely be gone in a
few seasons.
I've attached the PJD request form if they want me to stake out the 404 line. Mainly I need a request and on that there is
a place to allow site access.
