HomeMy WebLinkAboutOregon Inlet Q2 Meeting NotesOregon Inlet Q2 Meeting. 3.30.23 ( Jordan H, Capt, Marion Warren — EJE counsel?, Todd H, Robert T,
harry, Barton)
JH Jan1— Mar 16 moved 151,OOOcy out of alt channel and bar
70694cy from ocean bar and disposed off PI
Remaining 80,393cy near bridge- 3 weeks in hatteras, but rest in alt channel and OB
KW nothing on horizon for Hatteras- channel looking good and hope will last through summer
Been doing a great job of maintaining OB channel
Still need to update survey data- but no change in orientation of OBC- once get updated data -
may extend channel out to -16' contour
1500 between north of PI and DA for nearshore- extended to 10,000' from 5000'
Also extended inshore disposal further to south- deeper depths to south
-10' contour in alt route channel- limited to that depth until ACE finishes coordination
-14' in OHC R1- potentially- ACE recently dredged 17 Ext- not a lot of material, just a few spots
JH continuing to look at yardage will be looking at other areas if hit target
3 permits on hold- anticipate additional permits to be issued- would add and follow sim
procedures
Me nearshore disposal was limited 5,000'- would need to modify to extend and coordinate with
agencies
KW Ace limited to -14' would be nice to dispose of deeper- would like to have discussion about
disposing material deeper than -14' if sea conditions warranted- up to-18'
No hard and fast definition about active nearshore system- DoC
Have looked at DoC in other nearby areas- have seen at -20' and even up to -25'
TH nothing as far as navigation, so more of a reg issue
Me reminder than no additional overdredge allowance is authorized beyond -16' and -12'
And no sidecast dredging is authorized on or after April 1
Also- probably need to see deeper depth is still within active nearshore area
KW understand- have note that sidecasting not approved without agency coordination
Next meeting June 15
JH so only limited to 5000' disposal in nearshore
KW yes- at this time- will provide EJE with updated coordinates and will update plans once have new
survey data
