WOOD. WASHERS MAY BE OMITTED UNDER HEADS OF SPECIAL TIMBER BOLTS, OR DOMED --HEAD BOLTS WHEN THE
SIZE AND STRENGTH OF THE HEAD IS SUFFICIENT TO DEVELOP CONNECTION STRENGTH WITHOUT CRUSHING WOOD.
2.8. ALL STEEL CONNECTIONS AND FASTENERS SHALL BE GALVANIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 'AASHTO M111' OR 'AASHTO
M232'.
3. BRIDGE LUMBER
3.1. SAWN LUMBER SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF 'AASHTO M168'.
3.2. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL WOOD SHALL BE CUT, DRILLED, AND FABRICATED AND IMMEDIATELY FIELD TREATED
WITH WOOD PRESERVATIVE IN ACCORDANCE WITH "AWRA" STANDARD "M4".
3.3. PLANK DECKING WALL BE VISUALY GRADED No. 1 DENSE, No. 2, OR BETTER SOUTHERN PINE DIMENSION LUMBER OR
TIMBERS.
3.4. PLANK DECKING IS ROUGH SAWN C�LI N, (UNSEASONED) 3" IN NOMINAL THICKNESS.
