WASHING - IF CONDITIONS AT THE SITE ARE SUCH THAT MOST OF THE MUD AND SEDIMENT WILL NOT BE REMOVED
BY VEHICLES TRAVELING OVER THE GRAVEL, THE TIRES SHOULD BE WASHED. WASHING SHOULD BE DONE ON AN
AREA STABILIZED WITH CRUSHED STONE THAT DRAINS INTO A SEDIMENT TRAP OR OTHER SUITABLE DISPOSAL

2. PLACE THE GRAVEL TO THE SPECIFIC GRADE AND DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE PLANS, AND SMOOTH IT.
3. PROVIDE DRAINAGE TO CARRY WATER TO A SEDIMENT TRAP OR OTHER SUITABLE OUTLET.
4. USE GEOTEXTILE FABRIC TO IMPROVE STABILITY OF THE FOUNDATION IN LOCATIONS SUBJECT TO SEEPAGE OR

MAINTENANCE:
MAINTAIN THE GRAVEL PAD IN A CONDITION TO PREVENT MUD OR SEDIMENT FROM LEAVING THE CONSTRUCTION
SITE. THIS MAY REQUIRE PERIODIC TOPDRESSING WITH 2-INCH STONE. AFTER EVERY RAINFALL, INSPECT ANY
STRUCTURE, USED TO TRAP SEDIMENT AND CLEAN IT OUT AS NECESSARY. REMOVE ALL OBJECTIONABLE MATERIALS

CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS:
1. ENSURE THAT THE SPREADER IS LEVEL, FOR UNIFORM SPREADING OF STORM RUNOFF.
2. CONSTRUCT THE LEVEL SPREADER LIP ON UNDISTURBED SOIL TO UNIFORM HEIGHT AND ZERO GRADE OVER THE
LENGTH OF THE SPREADER.
3. CONSTRUCT A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM THE PIPE OUTFALL TO THE LEVEL SPREADER.
4. DISPERSE RUNOFF FROM THE SPREADER ACROSS A PROPERLY STABILIZED SLOPE. MAKE SURE THE SLOPE IS
SUFFICIENTLY SMOOTHED TO KEEP THE FLOW FROM CONCENTRATING.
5. AFTER ITS CONSTRUCTION, APPROPRIATELY SEED AND MULCH THE ENTIRE DISTURBED AREA.
6. THE LEVEL SPREADER DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE BASED ON CURRENT NCDENR DIVISION OF WATER
QUALITY DESIGN STANDARDS.
MAINTENANCE:
1. INSPECT THE LEVEI SPREADER AFTER EVERY SEVEN DAYS AND 1/2 INCH OF RAINFALL UNTIL VEGETATION IS ESTABLISHED Al`D
PROPERLY MAKE ANY NEEDED REPAIRS. AFTER THE AREA HAS BEEN STABILIZED, MAKE PERIODIC INSPECTIONS AND KEEP
VEGETATION IN A HEALTHY, VIGOROUS CONDITION.
Z MAINTAIN THE ENGINEERED FILTER STRIP WITH REGULAR MOWING AND RESODDING IF NECESSARY. MAINTAIN A DENSE,
VIGOROUS STAND OF TURF. RECOMMENDED GRASSES INCLUDE COMMON BERMUDA.
