Request for Roller Ramp
Hello,sorry for the crude diagram. In the brown,is the current access running from bulkhead over the granite rip-rap and
down to the water. The bulkhead is^'5'above the water level and the rip-rap extends about 12-14'out from the bulkhead.
/ My request is to build a roller ramp for small boats. As discussed, I have a 16'Tanzer sailboat, and a 14' Force 5 sailboat.
e The roller ramp would consist of two parallel runners of 2x8 or 2x10 treated lumber with typical wobble rollers on top.The
,�01 iik � runners would be not more than 4'apart(I expect 2'to 2.5'is more likely)and I was thinking that approximately every 8' I
/�.1e �e should put some type of cross-beam for the runners to rest on,so I drew those in—the cross-beams would be less than 6'
. Il across. I was thinking the total length might be up to 48',with a portion up in the yard to be safely above water level.This
would give the ramp an^'10 degree slope to the ramp. I could see the ramp extending 16-24'past the rip-rap,and possibly
,�\.• the last 16'might be removable,so it was only installed when I was using it. I plan to use a manual trailer winch.
�• Ramp as described won't get a small boat into the water 100%of the time,but it would work to get a small boat into
shallow water-90%of the time. It takes so long to trailer and rig a small sailboat boat, and then reverse the process
afterwards,the idea of keeping one mostly rigged,and backing it down a ramp from the yard into the water for a few days
use is very appealing.
