ERIC BOYETTE SECRETARY The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a GP .2300 permit for the replacement of dual culverts on SR 1307 Frying Pan Road in Tyrrell County. The culverts are located approximately 5.6 miles east of NC 94 on an unnamed canal to the Frying Pan. The existing (2) 60" x 65' CMP's will be removed using NCDOT's guidelines for culvert removal. The proposed (2) 87"x63"00' CAP'S will be placed on the existing alignment as shown in the permit drawings. NCDOT is also coordinating with the USACOE and NCDWR to acquire a nationwide permit for culvert replacements. Included with this letter are the location map, permit drawings, MP -I and MP-5 forms and adjacent landowner notification forms. This project will allow the continuance of safe transportation along SR 1307 Frying Pan Road by replacing the existing damaged culverts. c. The culverts will be replaced using NCDOT best management practices and construction techniques for culvert replacements. The culverts will be replaced on the existing alignment. The culverts will be installed using an excavator, dumptrucks, and various other types of equipment. d. List all development activities you propose. The culverts will be entirely removed using NCDOT guidelines for pipe removal. The existing (2) 60" x 60' CMP's will be replaced by (2) 87"xW x70' CAP with riprap on both the inlet and outlet ends of the pipe as shown in the provided permit drawings. Once the culvert is in place and back filled, a new roadway surface and grassed shoulder will be established. The banks will be stabilized following NCDOT erosion control bmp's. e.
