RE: CAMA Permit #95-95: Bridge #38 on NC 118 :44"t4 Creek,
Craven County
Dear Mr. Nottingham:
This is in reference to your letter dated October 23, 1995,
concerning Condition #2 contained in CAMA Permit #95-95. This
condition requires silt curtains to be in place upstream and
downstream from the project site while construction activities are
underway. According to your letter and attached drawing, the
Department of Transportation would like to be relieved of this
requirement since cofferdams will be in place prior to the driving
of pilings, thus minimizing turbidity impacts in Swift Creek.
Additionally, your letter notes other erosion control measures
which will be utilized during project construction to prevent
sediment run-off from entering adjacent wetland and water areas.
Please be advised that CAMA Permit #95-95 is hereby refined to
allow for the deletion of Condition #2 as long as those measures
described in the above letter are utilized during project
construction. Please attach a copy of this letter to your permit
so that it may be made available to Department personnel when
making routine monitoring inspections of the site.

It is requested that Special Condition Number 2 be deleted from Permit Number 95-95 on
the above referenced project.
The following sedimtsarion and erosion control measures will be emphasized during
construction:
�. Cofferdams will be constructed per attached sketch from the Contractor. The
coffin dams will control the movement of disturbed earth material.
2 Silt fence and other erosion control measures will be installed prior to earth moving
activities as per the erosion control plans.
3_ The bridge fill face slope will be stabilized with rock rip-rap immediathly upon
completion of grading operations_
