Dear Mr. Willis:

This letter is in response to your request, dated January 29, 2013,requesting a modification to CAMA Major
Permit No. 31-09 to authorize the installation of a chain link fence within the Public Trust Shoreline AEC of the
Little Alligator River at the NCDOT Barge Facility in Tyrrell County. One end of the 150' long, 8' high fence
would be installed within the Public Trust Shoreline extending 30 feet landward of the normal water level. No
additional impacts are requested or anticipated under this modification.
This Letter of Refinement authorizes the installation of a chain link fence as described in your request dated
January 29, 2013.
This letter shall be attached to the original of CAMA Permit No. 31-09, which was issued on March 19, 2009
and Letter of Refinement issued February 15,2010. All documents must be readily available on site when a
DCM representative inspects the project for compliance. All conditions and stipulations of the active permit

Dear Mr. Williams,
The NCDOT is requesting a modification of CAMA major permit # 31-09 to
authorize the installation of a chain link fence within the AEC of the Little Alligator
River at the Little Alligator Barge Facility. The proposed fence will be 150' in length
and 8' in height. It will be installed across the truck gravel path that leads up to the
loading dock and will have a gate at both ends of the path to prevent access to the loading
dock and barge storage area. There will also be an overhang of the fence on the east end
to prevent access around the end of the fence. There are no impacts associated with this
project.
Attached is a drawing show the proposed location of the fence on the original
permit drawings for major permit # 31-09. If you need any additional information
