FYI, attached is a prep outline PCL is undertaking for Hurricane Irma.The track seems to be heading away to the west, so
the level of implementation may vary some from yesterday,when this list was provided. I know they are keeping a very
close eye on the storm and taking precautions.

PCL Civil Constructors—Bonner Bridge Project
HURRICANE IRMA PREPARATIONS:
Summary—Currently the Outer Banks is not within the NHC 5-day cone for Hurricane Irma, but due to the
increased NE winds forecasted ahead of the hurricane for the area and the uncertainty still associated with the
storm's path, PCL is beginning to implement severe weather preparations today to ensure that they get completed
before the weather deteriorates.
All crane barges and support barges removed from Navigation Span by end of Friday,9/8
All crane barges and support barges secured at the heavy weather mooring locations at the south end of
the bridge per PCL's Severe Weather and Hurricane Plan by end of Saturday,9/9
All cranes on barges secured in"dog-off' position-booms lowered into boom rests or down to minimum
60 degrees w/blocks tied down to barge
Crew boat will be docked at OBX Marina in Wanchese for safe harbor and easier return access
Tug Maverick will stay on the project site until all barges secured per the above;boat will take safe harbor
within 100 miles if necessary based on storm path&then return as soon as storm passes
The(3)truckable tugs will be pulled out of the water and stored on the south dock or on a barge
Loaded JMC-192(segments)and RoRo(piles)barges are at Island C and will be brought to the heavy
weather mooring location at the south end of the bridge
RT cranes on Nav Span superstructure to be boomed down and left on outriggers
Segment Erectors will be left in place at Bent 20&secured down to superstructure front&back
Finishing buggies will be moved back to Bent 21 and secured to falsework tower
All trestle and land crane booms to be facing north.
All trestle and land crane booms to be boomed down to a minimum angle of 60 degree.
- When possible,connex boxes on trestle will be positioned on mainline trestle and crane booms will be
laid down so that boom tip rest of top of box.
All trestle and land crane boom main blocks will be laid to rest on trestle or tied back to lowerworks
- All trestle and land crane whip line blocks to be lashed down.
- All loose superstructure panels to be banded together and strapped down to formed span or staged
under completed deck at span 80 on north end or span 5 on south end.
All loose plywood to be gathered up and banded and strapped down to formed span or staged under
completed deck at span 80 on north end or span 5 on south end.
- All deck curing fabric to be rolled up and secured.
All portable toilets that are on land and available will be picked up by vendor,toilets on barges will be
secured down.
- All roll off dumpsters on site are scheduled to be dumped and returned,dumpsters staged at far south
end of project will be relocated north to be behind concrete barrier on shoulder of south bound HWY 12 lane
All small trash cans to be brought inside connex box's.
Underslung stripping carts to be positioned and chained off to bent
- Remove all materials and tools from floating trestle templates
- Pick up and remove all traffic control barrels from north and south approach,scheduled to take place on
Friday afternoon,9/8
- Have span 64 at north end completely formed to eliminate having any loose overhang gang forms sitting,
deck rebar for span 65 that is currently staged on north trestle will be staged on formed span to apply a load and
secure deck panels in place.
Generator,fuel tank,and used oil tank in south yard will be staged on span 1 deck at south end.
- Light plants will be laid down in tow position,secured to new bridge deck,staged under bridge,secured
on barge/trestle,or moved to Wanchese yard
All welders,compressors,generators,will be secured to new bridge deck,staged under bridge,secured on
barge/trestle,or moved to Wanchese yard
