Reid Wilson May 22, 2023 Kara Guthrie NC DCM Field Representative 400 Commerce Ave Morehead City,NC 28557 RE: Hammocks Beach State Park—Boat ramp sediment removal, Onslow County,NC Ms. Guthrie, Hammocks Beach State Park is in need of a General Permit for sediment removal around the boat ramp in the maintenance area of the park. Sediment is washing over the ramp and causing access and use issues. The functionality of the ramp is necessary for park operations,visitor use,and law enforcement and EMS needs. The area of impact is approximately 100 square feet with an estimated 300 cubic yards of material removed and placed in an upland location.All work will occur from land. A field visit with DCM staff occurred March 21, 2023 and a General Permit was requested by DCM. The complete package is attached here and hard copies will be mailed to the office. It is covering the boat ramp so the public is unable to use it most days. Is that something that would need a GP, or does that fall under regular maintenance?
