Weeks, property owner for the pier and platform at 149 Pelican Ct., Chowan County. Cynthia Rountree, of the Division of Coastal Management staff, was recently on site to evaluate the permit applicant's request. The permit applicant has requested a permit a 25 foot by 5 foot pier with 16 foot by 20 foot platform and 5 foot by 16 foot lower platform. Under the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) has established Rules for General Permits for this type of development that are found in 15A NCAC 07H .01200 (copy enclosed). You have notified the Division of Coastal Management of your objections to this proposed development by way of an e-mail and signed riparian notification form. Your objections to this proposed development related to not being provided enough information and questioning what impacts this would have on your property. Both concerns where address by e-mail and an additional drawing being sent to you by Mr. Weeks. The Division has reviewed your objections, along with all aspects of this development proposal for consistency with the aforementioned Rules, which describe the CRC's standards and guidelines for this type of development. Our review of the proposed development has found it to be consistent with these Rules. The proposed pier and platforms are centered on the applicant's 150 foot wide shoreline, and no portion of the docking facility is proposed to be placed within the 15 foot riparian access area. Dear Sir/Marne, I have attached a drawing provided by my neighbor, Mr Richard Weeks (149 Pelican Court), who wishes to build a dock with a connecting 25 ft bridge to his property. He indicates the dock's edge will be 65ft from my (Dahl) property line. My questions are, 1) Does the location of the dock prevent me in any way from also adding a dock to my property (151 Pelican Court)? 2) Is his drawing binding given it is not part of his description on the Adjacent Riparian Property Owner Notification/Waiver Form that he filed with your dept? 3) Do you need any other information to respond?
