As an update, Brad has said that they currently eliminated the engineered dune construction in the Duck project bid package due to cost, but they are okay with us including a 4:1 slope
permit condition (in case they find additional funding down the road to put it back in). He said they also increased the slope in the bid package for both the Southern Shores and Kitty
Hawk projects to 3:1. So I think that should address your dune comments for Southern Shores (along with the conditions we included in the KDH permit to address any future shoreline
changes), but I’m not sure it fully addresses your concerns about backslopes for Kitty Hawk given current conditions.
