Kim and I are applying for a CAMA General permit to repair our dock and add a floating dock in the location
where we currently have a step-down dock. There is no change to the current size or location of the dock.
We will replace several of the failing pilings, add more pilings and reinforce the support system under the
dock. We will remove the existing step-down dock and replace it with a Floating dock. The attached sketch
shows the dock and the survey identifies your name, location and address.
As the adjacent riparian property owner to the Project, we are required to notify you of the scope of the
Project to give you the opportunity to comment on the Project. Please review the Project drawings and

Dear Heather: Just opened the permit application and want to make sure my project requires a general
permit (or any CAMA permit for that matter). The dock exists now and will not change in its
dimensions. I have hired a contractor to replace failing pilings. His advice to me is to add pilings
because the prior design had too few pilings for the span of dock. In other words he will install pilings
every 6' rather than the 10' separation that exists now. I'm not exactly sure about the distance of
separation (6' or 10") but we intend to increase the number of pilings and the pilings will definitely be
closer together than they are now. The dimensions of the dock will remain the same.
We plan to replace a "step down" dock with a floating dock. Again, the dimensions are unchanged but
the floating dock and its supporting pilings will replace the step down dock we have now.
The dock is located at 104 Cottonwood Court. I invite you to take a look if you have the time. Attached
is the sketch my contractor prepared for the project. Also attached is a copy of my survey. Thanks

Hello Mr. Vernon,
What you described is considered development (adding new pilings and replacing stepdown with
floating platform) and would require the CAMA general permit. If you have your neighbor on the left
and the one on your right sign the adjacent riparian property owners statement along with the drawing
the contractor submitted and return to me, I can then draft a permit for you. The fee for this would be
200 dollars (check or money order only) and the permit would be valid for 120 days. If you want your
contractor to handle this for you, please fill out the attached agent form to submit as well. I hope this
helps.

Dear Mary Carlyle and Steve
Kim and I are applying for a CAMA General permit to repair our dock and add a floating dock in the location
where we currently have a step-down dock. There is no change to the current size or location of the dock.
We will replace several of the failing pilings, add more pilings and reinforce the support system under the
dock. We will remove the existing step-down dock and replace it with a floating dock. The attached sketch
shows the dock and the survey identifies your name, location and address.
As the adjacent riparian property owner to the Project, we are required to notify you of the scope of the
Project to give you the opportunity to comment on the Project. Please review the Project drawings and
complete the form where indicated. Return a copy of the completed and signed form to me at
