Dear Mr. Martin:
NORTH CAROLINA
Environmental Quality
February 8, 2021
This letter is with reference to your application for a major modification to the Town of Oak
Island's Coastal Area Management Act Major Development and State Dredge and Fill Permit
(State Permit No. 31-20), acting as agent for the Town of Oak Island, to undertake beach
nourishment development activities at Oak Island, in and adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, in
Brunswick County.
Additional time is needed for this office to complete the review and make a decision on your
request. Therefore, it is necessary that the standard review time be extended. An additional 75
days is provided by G.S. I I3A-122(c) which would make April 24, 2021, the new deadline for
reaching a decision on your request. However, we expect to take action prior to that time and
will do so as soon as possible. In the interim, if you have any question on the status of your
application, do not hesitate to contact me by phone (910) 796-7302 or e-mail at:
heather. coats@ncdenr.gov.
Sincerely,
Heather Coats
