Action ID No. 199602657 and State Permit No. 91-96
Mr. Ken Stewart
Bald Head Island, Ltd.
Post Office Box 3069
Southport, North Carolina 28461
Dear Mr. Stewart:
Through coordination with the North Carolina Division of Coastal
Management, we have learned of your request for modification of your permit to
proceed directly into the construction and excavation of Phase II of the
marina, without installing the temporary vinyl bulkhead between Phase I and
Phase II. The Department of the Army permit issued on July 2, 1996 authorized
dredging 9,000 square feet of vegetated wetlands and an additional
110,400 square feet of non -vegetated wetlands and shallow bottom, in the Cape
Fear River, adjacent to the Prices Creek Southport/Fort Fisher ferry, on
NC 210, east of Southport, in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
Your proposal continues to be consistent with the provisions and
objectives of general permit No. 198000291. The permit is hereby modified to
include the work as shown on the enclosed plan. It is understood that all
other conditions of your permit remain applicable and that the expiration date
is April 30, 2003.
Questions or comments may be addressed to Mr. Jeff Richter, available at
telephone (910) 251-4636.
Sincerely,
G. Wayne Wright
