Beach Nourishment Project
Oceanfront shoreline of Southern Shores plus —1000, to the south into Kitty Hawk & —1000, to the
north into Duck & offshore waters, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, in Dare County.
Dear Mr. Ogbum:
In accordance with the Division of Coastal Management (NCDEQ) request, please consider this letter
authorization to go upon State lands allocated to the Department of Administration for the beach nourishment
project to repair and reshape the eroded protective dunes. This project will serve as protection from chronic
erosion and storm induced erosion in this area throughout most of the oceanfront. The proposed project will
involve use of either a hopper edge or cutterhead dredge to excavate sand from the borrow area. Please see
Exhibit I attached.
