Box 63 Edenton, NC 29732 Dear Ms. Lowell: NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality January 20, 2023 Re: Objection to the Issuance of CAMA General Permit No. 86753A for a roof over an existing platform Development Project, at 207 Queen Anne Dr., Chowan County This letter is in response to your objection as an adjacent riparian property owner to a permit request from Robert E. Reiheld MD, property owner for the roof over the existing platform at 207 Queen Anne Dr., Chowan County. Cynthia Rountree, of the Division of Coastal Management staff, was recently on site to evaluate the permit applicant's request. The permit applicant has requested a permit to add a roof over the existing platform. Under the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) has established Rules for General Permits for this type of development that are found in 15A NCAC 07H .01200 (copy enclosed). You have notified the Division of Coastal Management of your objections to this proposed development by way of a letter. Your objections to this proposed development related to the height impacting your view of the Bay. The Division has reviewed your objections, along with all aspects of this development proposal for consistency with the aforementioned Rules, which describe the CRC's standards and guidelines for this type of development. Our review of the proposed development has found it to be consistent with these Rules. The proposed roof is permittable as long as it does not allow for second story use. After having given careful consideration to your objections to this proposed development, we have determined that it is consistent with the Rules of the CRC and the State's Coastal Management Program, and that all pre -requisites have been satisfied. Therefore, the Division of Coastal Management issued General Permit No. 86753A on January 20, 2023(copy enclosed) for the proposed development. (252) 357-0013 E-MAIL: godwinandwood@gmaii.com The objection stated with regard to the proposed boathouse to be constructed by the Reiheld family, made by their riparian neighbors Patsy Lowell and John Collins was simply that, given the orientation of the parcels, a boathouse would almost entirely obstruct their view of Edenton M The Lowell and Collins property faces a canal, which requires them to look past a peninsula to view the bay and the headwaters of Pembroke Creek. Should the boathouse be constructed over the existing columns, their opinion is that the view would be severely impacted I am simply passing this along and am not representing either party.
