RE: Whalehead Club Refinement of CAMA Major Permit #166-96
Dear Mr. Stroud:
Our office has received your request to refine the above permit. In accordance with the
letter submitted and based on a field inspection the site, this letter of refinement authorizes the
filling of an eroded pocket along the north side of the entrance drive to the Whalehead Club.
Excavated material from an adjacent high ground source will be used to fill the area that has
eroded into a nearby man-made canal. All fill material will be placed waterward of normal water
level, compacted and stabilized with a vegetative cover. A silt fence will be placed at the
waterward end of the fill area to prevent further siltation of the canal. The silt fence is to remain
in place until the canal bank has sufficient cover to prevent further erosion.
This refinement is in accordance with the letter received by this office on April 9, 1997.
This letter must be attached to CAMA Permit #166-96 and be available at the Whalehead Club
project site for review by state and federal officials. All other terms and conditions of CAMA
Permit #166-96 remain in effect.

Permit No. 166-96, Minor Modification
Dear Ms. Mathis:
The County of Currituck requests that this permit modification be refined to allow the repair of
the existing eroded area at the canal on the north side of the driveway into the Whalehead Club
building. We propose to fill the eroded area using waste soil from excavation of the swale. No
fill will be placed waterward of the original shore line. All fill will be compacted and stabilized
with vegetation.
