Dear Mr. Bailey:
RECEIVED
DEC 0 6 1999
COASTAL MANAGE RENT
The correspondence is in reference to your letter of November 29, 1999 whereby as
agent for Crystal Coast Tournaments, you requested that maintenance excavation of the two
westernmost slips of the Crystal Coast Tournament docks located along the 600 block of Evans
Street in Morehead City be allowed. According to CAMA Major Permit #98-96 issued to
Crystal Coast Tournaments and which expires on December 31, 1999, the area in question was
previously authorized for and was actually excavated.
The current proposal involves the excavation of an area that measures approximately
10' X 45' X -5'. The area would be excavated with a clamshell excavator from a barge with
the spoil loaded onto trucks and hauled off. It appears that the project remains consistent with
the regulations of the Division. Therefore, consider CAMA Major Permit #98-966refined to
allow for the project. However, because of the potential for damage to town streets and
sidewalks, this office urges close coordination with the Town of Morehead City.
Please note that the original conditions of the permit remain valid unless superceded by
this letter. You should attach a copy of this letter to the permit so that it may be made
available to department personnel when making routine monitoring inspections of the site.
I do appreciate your efforts to comply with the permit requirements of the Division and
if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at my Morehead City Office
(252-808-2808).
Sincerely,
. P iZll

Dear Ted
As agent for Crystal Coast Tournaments, I am asking that CAMA permit # 98-96 which allowed the
maintenance dredging of an area on the Morehead City waterfront between 6' and 7 h Streets be
amended to allow us to dig out portions of the two westernmost slips. The spoil will be loaded into
trucks across the sidewalk area and will be hauled off. Mr. Bentley Brooks of Brooks Dredging in
Harkers Island will be performing all of the work including the hauling.
Please let me know if there are any questions or problems with this request
Sincerely,
James H. Pou Bailey, Jr.
