HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-96 Letter of Refinement 8/1999August 23, 1999 Mr. Mason Cox Jarrett Bay Boatworks 530 Sensation Weigh Beaufort, NC 28516 Dear Mr. Cox: This letter of refinement is in reference to your July 28, 1999 correspondence requesting a modification of Major CAMA Permit #8-96 issued in the name of Jarrett Bay Group, LLC. The original permit has been modified numerous times and authorized among other development, the placement of nine pilings within Core Creek which created nine slips on your tract near Beaufort, in Carteret County. According to your letter, the strong currents in the vicinity of the facility are creating problems with vessels mooring at the facility causing damage to the outer tie poles. As I understand the request, you propose to strengthen the mooring facility by changing the single pilings to 3-pole dolphin clusters. The location and size of the nine slips would remain the same. Therefore, please consider this letter of refinement the necessary authorization from the Division to proceed with the proposed changes. All previous conditions including the December 31, 1999 expiration date still apply and remain unchanged. Please attach a copy of this letter to your permit so that it may be made available to Department personnel when making routine monitoring inspections of the site. I do appreciate your efforts to comply with the permit requirements of the Division. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact this office at 252-808-2808. Sincerely, M. The original permit authorized the placement of 9 pilings within Core Creek to create 9 slips. Due to the excessive current in this system, the pilings are not withstanding the force of mooring vessels. Consequently, two poles have already been lost to breakage. The request is to strengthen the mooring facility by changing from single poles to 3 pole clusters, or dolphins. The location is the same, and the number of slips unchanged. I recommend the request be authorized under a Letter of Refinement, to include all original conditions. JARRETT #AY ,. Builder Sz Broker of Fine Sportfishing Boats July, 28 1999 Tere Barrett N.C. To include a cluster of 3 pilings on the western most end of our nine (9) boat slips. This region experiences a strong ebb and flood tide, making it very difficult to both enter and hold a vessel in its slip. We have already broken U of the existing single poles. We would like to replace each of the nine (9) single poles with a cluster of three poles that support one another (dolphin). Please consider this request, I have attached a sketch for your review.
