To Whom It May Concern:
I have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessary filing of
an application for a minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. After making a site
inspection on 7/1/2011, I have determined that the activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor
development permit as long as it remains consistent with your site drawing and materials list submitted on
7/05/2011, and meets the conditions specified below. If your plans should change and your project will no longer
meet these conditions, please contact me before proceeding.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR - (G.S. 113-103(5) (B) (5) and 7K.0209) - Structures may be repaired in a similar
manner, size and location as the original structure. No expansions or additions are permissible. The repairs are
limited to 50% of the physical value of the existing structure and the following specific conditions
1. Remove and replace all burned material from fire.
2. Replace HVAC duck work.
3. Replace damaged gas line and plumbing.
4. The proposed repairs shall be consistent with all other applicable local ordinances and North Carolina
Building Code standards.
5. No changes shall be made to the footprint.
This exemption to CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of your obtaining any other
State, Federal or Local authorization and N.C. Building Permits. This exemption expires 90 days from the date
of the letter.

TO Whom it May concern:
An inspection and evaluation was made Of the fire damage at the above referenced site. The ceiling of the second
elevated floor and the floor of the third elevated floor has been damaged by fire
limited to the back of the unit and will require the following repairs. _ The fire damage appeared to be
I ) The existing 14" floor trusses are open web trusses with wood chords and steel interior webs. The top chord
and interior web members have been damaged by the heat from the fire. All damaged 14" trusses are to be
replaced with wood open web 2x4 trusses @ 19.2" OC.
2) All '/4" floor sheathing on top of these trusses must be replaced.
3) The gable end floor truss located at the back of the building must be replaced with a new gable end floor
truss.
4) During the inspection only a small Portion of the exterior sheathing was exposed. The exterior sheathing
that was exposed appeared to be damaged. The exterior Y2"- sheathing located on the ends of the replaced
trusses must be replaced with new Y2" Plywood or Y 2" OSB sheathing.
