SUBJECT: Renewal of Major CARA Permit No. 132-87 for Project Maintenance
Since answering regulatory responsibilities on Ocracoke Island in the Spring of
1992, I have reviewed this project area from onsite inspection and aerial overflight.
Although this office was not involved with processing the application nor onsite for
the original excavation and monitoring we have noted, primarily from overflight, that
the permitted channel has already filled in at the waterward end thus severely
restricting the use of the permitted project. Therefore, I recommend the permit be
renewed for project maintenance with the standard modification requirements, etc.

Re: Request for Maintenance Under CAMA Major
Permit No. 132-87
Dear Mr. Moore:
I am requesting a maintenance excavation clause in my permit to
allow excavation of sand to keep the channel open. The project
has been completed and there has been some closure of the
channel near the opening. Hence, I request that maintenance be
allowed to keep this channel open in accordance with the
originally permitted excavation. I will not be making any
dimensional changes to the original excavation. I have
enclosed plats that indicate the area in which the maintenance
will be performed.
Respectfully
(LLOP
