The objection is based upon findings which lead to the conclusion that there will be one or more adverse effects as covered in G. S. 113-229 (e) 1-5. Narrative description Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company is proposing to place a new cable beside an existing cable across the Pungo River approximately 93' downstream of the U.S. 264 bridge at Leechville. The cable will be buried below the river bottom. At the crossing location the river is 497' wide. The cable will be buried by either a cable plow and/or water jet. The trench will be 6" wide and the cable will be buried 24" below the river bottom. The cable will be placed on existing poles on the east and west sides of the river. Anticipated impacts The project as proposed should have a minimal environmental impact. No wetland vegetation will be excavated or filled. Some short term turbidity may exist during project activity. Also enclosed is a drawing that gives the details of the installation and a check for $10.00 to cover the cost of the permit. A separate application has been filed with the U. S.
