Project summary The applicant is proposing to construct a 300' long private pier at
his property at Gaylords Bay.
Environmental settin
The applicant owns a 110.47' wide by 275.16' long lot on the Pamlico River at
Gaylords Bay, just east of the Pamlico River Ferry crossing. Located on the lot
is a single family dwelling which is served by a septic tank sewage disposal
system. The property has been bulkheaded to retard ongoing erosion. The adjacent
property to the west is highground with a Spartina cynosuroides marsh fringe.
The adjacent property to the east is vegetated with Spartina cynosuroides marsh.
Project proposal
The applicant is proposing to construct a 300' long by 4' wide private pier. The
pier will have an 8' x 12' T-section on the waterward end. A water depth of -4'
at normal water will be at the waterward end of the pier. The pier will be located
+ 60' from the western property line and + 50' from the eastern property line.
A CAMA Major Development Permit is being required because of the refusal of the
adjacent property owner to the west to sign a no objection statement which is needed
for an exemption or general penTdt to apply.
Environmental impact
The project as proposed should have a minimal environmental impact. No wetland
vegetation will be excavated and/or filled.
