This permit is subject to compliance with this application and permit conditions. Any violation of these terms may
subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for
compliance. The applicant certifies by signing this permit that: 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this
permit, the applicant will confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the
local land use plan and all local ordinances, and 2) a written statement from the adjacent riparian property owner(s)
has been obtained, or proof of delivery of certified mail notification of the adjacent riparian property owner(s).
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

appr oxirnate 3.0 acr ,arce! that is od acentto your proper Yy at 4v"L Dee;ane ,Rd. SW Thaw projQct was
put on hold until time could work,on other aspects of developing the property. However, one issue that -is
of concern has been the erosion that we have seen, especially on.the western ened of that r.o
p p rCy.
We have consulted with -a professional coastal scientist about ou"r options and he suggested that we
might -also consider installing`a "groin". The groin would be a small rock. structure that would be built
perpendicular to the shoreline and would be located about 25 feet east:ofourproperty linethatis
adjacent to -the Sea Mist campground. See -the attached aerial image. Other- details are spe6fied,on the
image.

Form_' Since we do not intend to build anytizing adjacentto your property.and are not asking for a
waiver of the required 15' setback, there will be no need for you to>sn=the,attactied form. Having
someone-sign,the "Certified -Mail -Return Receipt" will.satisfy the ;lC"Coastal Commission rule
requirements. if you do have concerns about what we propose, we sLggest that you contact us and
hopefully we can work those out. However, if you have ol?jeeiions to ;the project as proposed, contact
the Division"of Coastal Management in Wilmington. There -is a number -on the'forrn for the main office
