Project:summary The applicant is proposing to replace the existing bridge across Far Creek on US 264 with a new bridge. Environmental setting The project site is located in the Town of Engelhard in Hyde County where Far Creek crosses under US 264. At the site is an existing + 80' long deteriorated bridge. The bridge has a clearance of + 5' to + 6' above the NWL. No wetland vegetation is located at the project site. Project proposal The applicant is proposing to replace the existing bridge with a new bridge at the same location. Excavation will occur at or near the NVM of Far Creek at the eastern end of the bridge during construction. The new structure will not impede navigation any more than the present structure. During construction, traffic will be detoured around the site via existing roads. Environmental impact The project as proposed should have a minimal environmental impact. HARRINGTON SECRETARY The North Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to replace the existing bridge with a new structure along the same alignment. During construction traffic will be detoured via existing roads. The structure will not require the placement of fill in wetlands or below.,—, ordinary high water. Application is hereby made for a CAMA permit as required by the proposed project. In that the project was processed as a "categorical exclusion" by the Federal Highway Administration, it may be constructed under a Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit.
