RE: EXEMPTED PROJECT (MINOR)
Dear Mike:
We have received your proposal for development regulated by the Coastal Area
Management Act (CAMA). The activity you propose is exempt from needing a Minor
Development Permit as long as it meets the conditions specified below. If your plans should
change and your project will no longer meet these conditions, please contact me before
proceeding.
The project calls for the installation of one public beach access on South Beach. The
access is located at the west end of Single -Family 17 and will not be located within the twenty-
five (25) setback of Cape Fear Station. This access is for public use and shall be treated as such.
This access shall:
1. be for pedestrian use only and be no more than 48 inches in width;
2. beat least eighteen inches (18"), but no more than twenty four inches (24") above
grade;
3. have support pilings installed at least three feet (3) but no more than five feet (5) in
depth;
4. not have handrails unless required by the NC Building Code.
