FACTS
1. This is the Town of Cape Carteret CAMA & Comprehensive Plan (hereinafter the
"Plan") adopted October 10, 2022, by the Town of Cape Carteret.
2. The Town of Cape Carteret (hereinafter the "Town") is located in Carteret County.
The Town is bounded by the Town of Peletier to the north; the Town of Bogue to the east; Bogue
Sound to the south, and; the Town of Cedar Point to the west.
3. As of 2020, the estimated permanent population of Cape Carteret was 2,403 and
the estimated peak population was 2,630. The growth rate for the past decade was 25.4%.
4. The Town is requesting certification of the Plan which can be found at
https /'deq nc gov-'about/divisions/coastal-management/coastal-management-land-use-
plaimine/certified-lups/earteret-county. The Plan replaces the Core Land Use Plan certified by the
Coastal Resources Commission on May 18, 2007.
5. The Town's Council adopted the Plan by resolution on October 10, 2022, after a
duly advertised public hearing. The public had the opportunity to provide written comments on
the plan up to thirty (30) calendar days after local adoption. No comments were received.
CONCLUSIONS OF LAW
The Town's Plan has met the substantive requirements outlined within the Land
Use Planning Requirements effective February 1, 2016.

2. There are no conflicts evident in Town's Plan with either state or federal law or the
State's Coastal Management Program.
3. The elected body of the Town made a final decision on the contents of Plan and
provided opportunity for the public to provide written comment following local adoption of the
plan, as required by N.C.G.S. § 113A-110 and 15A NCAC 7B .0801 and .0802, and Plan was
submitted to the NC Division of Coastal Management Commission without written objection or
comment from the public.
DECISION
For the reasons stated herein, the Town of Cape Carteret's request for certification of its
Plan is GRANTED.
