upland development, all as expressly and specifically set forth in the attached permit application and
workplan drawings. No non -water dependent uses of structures shall be conducted on, in or over
Public Trust waters without permit modification. Any additional land disturbing activities and/or
construction may require a modification of this permit. Contact a Division of Coastal Management
representative at [phone] for this determination.
2) This Minor Modification authorizes two kayak launches, in addition to the 3 existing transient boat
slips at this docking facility.
(See attached sheet for Additional Conditions)

other qualified persons within twenty (20) days of the issuing
date.
This permit must be accessible on -site to Department
personnel when the project is inspected for compliance.

I just got off the phone with the consultant (cc'ed) for this project regarding Shellfish and Sanitation's concerns about
the shellfish closure. Attached is a map showing the 100 foot separation. This will increase the square footage of coastal
wetland impacted by the dredging activities and will likely lead to increased sloughing of the wetland. I have asked that
the consultant work with you directly to coordinate submission of the revised drawing. Please let me know if I need to

Take a look at this. We moved it down to be 100' from the adjacent dock to the east. Rotated it a little.
But it still gets close to the coastal marsh.
With having to get 6' depth, this is what the contours look like. Do we need to show the depth contours, or just an
overall dredse surface area?

Per our discussion I understand that due to the location of the adjacent 10-slip docking facility to the east, that the
Town's proposed 3-slip transient docking facility will need to be shifted approximately 30 feet to the west to provide the
necessary 100 feet of separation. The 100 feet of separation is required to prevent a closure to open shell fishing waters.

Ms. Wooten with the Town of Holden Beach, is requesting to modify State Permit #40-15, which was issued
March 16, 2015 for a public park, transient docking facility, and boat basin excavation adjacent to the AIWW in
Brunswick County. State Permit #40-15 is due to expire on December 31, 2018.
Ms. Wooten is requesting the authorization of two (2) floating kayak launches measuring approximately 8' in
width by 10' in length to attach to either end on the landward side of the existing floating dock (See Sheet C1). The
Town of Holden Beach is also proposing to reconfigure the upland development including relocation of the authorized
restroom facility out of the 75' AEC and proposal of a splash pad measuring approximately 785 sq. ft. within the 75'
AEC.
Ms. Wooten has included a check (ck. No. 29643) in the amount of $100 for the modification request. This
office has no objections to the proposed modification of State Permit #40-15.
By copy of this memo, DCM is requesting that all pertinent resource agencies provide any
comments to Heather Coats of DCM's Wilmington Regional Office within 14 days of receipt.

Hi Chad,
I have a minor mod request for the addition of two 8'x10' floating kayak launch docks on the back side of the Town's
permitted floating dock and some changes to the upland development at Tower Park (Holden Beach). It looks like it was
just sent to Tyler. Do you need to review this as well? I can provide you a copy if you need it. Or if you want to come by
my office and check out the plan- I'm around all day.
I'm not sure if you will have any comments, but it seems this should have at least been sent to you.
But either way, just let me know!
